For some, the Season is already starting.

Although the UK still feels as though it is in the depths of winter with most of the country seeing the white stuff over the last few weeks, the worlds best kitesurfers are getting prepped for competition again. The GKA Kitesurf World Tour starts its wave, strapless freestyle and wave/freestyle combo events in under two weeks time in Cape Verde. We are super keen to keep a track of these events this year. The GKA have only today also announced that they have signed an agreement confirming that professional freestyle kiteboarding at World Tour level will fall under the responsibility of the KRU for the next two years. That means the KRU who fall under the GKA will be running the previously faltering world competition scene of freestyle kiteboarding. More on that soon.

For now though all focus is on the first GKA tour stop in Sal, Cape Verde. Over the last two years Matchu Lopes and Airton Cozzolino have been crowned champions and both of them grew up kiting Ponta Preta. Would your money go on one of them winning this tour stop? Well, do not discount current world number 3, Keahi de Aboitiz because he knows a thing or two about a right-hander.
